Charles Evans (cricketer)
- Charles Evans (cricketer)
Charles Evans (February 19, 1866 — January 14, 1956) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler who played for Derbyshire between 1894 and 1895.
Evans' career as a first-team player began a year before Derbyshire entered the County Championship for the first time, playing six friendly matches, and taking 13 wickets at just over 18 runs each. Scoring a career high of just 31, Evans was, for a short period of time, a rock in the Derbyshire middle-order, while team-mates such as John Hulme concentrated more avidly on their bowling skill.
Evans' best bowling figures were 4/46 against Warwickshire in 1894. Evans was born in Whittington Moor and died in Chesterfield at the age of 89.
