binomial_authority = Zhang, Woon & Li, 2006"Sparbambus gombakensis" is a species of
jumping spider that has to date only been found inMalaysia .It is similar to the related genus "
Wanlessia ".Zhang 2006]Description
Females have a total body length of about 6.6 mm, males are slightly smaller.
Although the species has only been found in bamboo, it is thought that this is not its proper habitat, as repeated searches failed to find new specimens. It seems to share the same microhabitat with "
Paracyrba wanlessi ", which preys on aquatic animals in the hollow interior of decaying bamboo internodes, for example of "Gigantochloa scortechinii ".Name
The genus name is derived from Indian "bambu", referring to the habitat of the species. The prefix "spar" denotes that the genus is in the subfamily
Spartaeinae . The species name refers to the type locality, the UluGombak Field Studies Centre of theUniversity of Malaya .Footnotes
