Corporation of Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters of New Brunswick

The Corporation of Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters of New Brunswick (CTINB) (or, in French, "Corporation des traducteurs, traductrices, terminologues et interprètes du Nouveau-Brunswick" (CTINB)) represents translators, terminologists and interpreters in New Brunswick.

Under the Corporation of Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters of New Brunswick Act, the use of the following titles in New Brunswick is restricted to certified members in good standing of the Corporation: certified translator (CT), or, in French, "traducteur agréé (T.A.)"; certified interpreter (CI) or, in French, "interprète agréé (I.A.)"; and certified terminologist (C. Term) or, in French, "terminologue agréé (Term. A.)" .

The CTINB is affiliated with the Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC) and the International Federation of Translators (FIT).

History

The Corporation of Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters of New Brunswick was founded in 1970, and became a member of the CTTIC in 1972. In 1989, the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick passed the Corporation of Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters of New Brunswick Act, which set out the rules of conduct of the Corporation.
