Don Karnage

Don Karnage is a fictional character created for the Disney animated series "TaleSpin". He is an air pirate and the main enemy of Baloo, the hero of the show. His first appearance was in the pilot episode "Plunder and Lightning", and he had many frequent appearances in subsequent episodes. Karnage is voiced by Jim Cummings, in a style reminiscent of Fernando Lamas.

While there has been much discussion over what species he is, with some suggesting that he is a fox, coyote, dingo or dog, Len Smith, the character designer for TaleSpin stated that Karnage is actually an "air wolf". [ [http://www.sullivanet.com/pirateisland/len.html] ]

Don Karnage in some ways resembles the fictional high seas pirate Ker Karraje, the character of Jules Verne's novel "Facing the Flag". Similar to Karnage, Karraje also owns a huge well-equipped pirate base and is skilled in applying the latest technology in his criminal career.

Karnage is extremely conceited, and constantly berates his underlings in the face of his self-perceived superiority. Ironically, Karnage is only slightly less inept than them. He loses his temper at trivial things and his attention span is severely limited. He always greets his soon-to-be plundered victims casually.

Karnage speaks with an accent, possibly Spanish, though he sings and speaks Italian when he is dressed as a gondola driver in the pilot episode. Despite his questionable leadership skills, Karnage is an excellent pilot, and often goes out into battle with his own personal aircraft in front of his men (though this is likely more out of his personal flamboyance and recklessness rather than any sense of courage or duty).
