JKR|2Jalan Klang Lama Jalan Syed Putra "(formerly Jalan Lornie)" (Federal route JKR|2) is a major road in
Kuala Lumpur ,Malaysia . It was named after Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra ibni Almarhum Syed Hassan Jamalullail, the thirdYang di-Pertuan Agong , which used to reside at Istana Negara which lies at one end of the road.Jalan Syed Putra was previously known as Lornie Drive during the British administration. The name was taken after
J. Lornie , one of the British Residents ofSelangor in the 1920s. Lornie was also the president of theRoyal Selangor Golf Club in 1926.Landmarks
At the helm of the road is Wisma Tun Sambathan, which stands tall over the rest of the structures in the area. Surrounding the building are small banks and offices including the Darul Takaful Finance Area, which was originally the UMBC Bank building and then the Sime Darby Securities office.
Kuen Cheng Girls School , one of the country's top schools, sits next to Istana Negara, which is located in between Jalan Syed Putra and Jalan Kuching. Temples like the Yuen Tong Chee adds a splash of red to the serene road. There are still many old shop houses along the road which do not get a lot of traffic. They usually cater to the local community in Robson Hill.Further down the road sits the KEMAS training centre that is facilitated by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry. The headquarters of the Selangor and Federal Territory Family Planning Association and the Malaysian International Youth Home are also nestled quietly along the road.
A new structure that has also made its presence felt is
Mid Valley Megamall that sits at the end of the road, a marked change from the road’s heyday.Infrastructure
Along the road runs Klang River, which has now been paved to support heavy monsoon rain and modern development.
Jalan Syed Putra is now connected to
Jalan Tun Sambanthan through different roads while before it was only connected through a bridge across theKlang River .List of Interchanges and Junctions
