Sooianwala Chatha (Urdu:سوئيانوالہ چٹھہ) is a town in the Hafizabad District of Punjab, Pakistan. It is located at 32°15'0N 73°42'0E with an altitude of 210 metres (692 feet). [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/PK/4/Suianwala.html Location of Suianwala - Falling Rain Genomics] ] Sooianwala is an ancient town that is believed to pre-date the Mughal era, there are a few historical buildings and ruins in and around the town. During the rule of Sher Shah Suri a road was built to link the town to Alipur Chattha and the cities beyond them. Being the centre of the cultivated lands, the town was famous for its "Mandi" (market) of cash crops. The market was mainly handled by the Hindus and Sikhs but more recently is being run by Muslims following the establishment of Pakistan. The nearby villages are also historically important. Ch. Muhammad Nawaz Chattha Had done many development works in the village. The examples are High School, Girls High School, Boys Primary School, Girls Primary School and Veterinary Hospital. A recreational area was developed by the late Ch. Nazir Ahmed Chattha.

Geography and climate

Sooianwala is bounded by rivers and canals. There is a major canal that runs parallel to Sooianwala which comes from the Qadirabad barrage and is located few kilometres north of Sooianwala. There is also a small canal that cuts the village in two parts and adds the scenic beauty to this wonderful town/village . Currently the canal is being renovated and is being lined and the road that runs beside it is being rebuilt. The climate is mainly dry with rains in the summer due to the monsoons and there are also a few rains in the winter due to the western depression. The land is plain and good for agriculture with plenty of water supply. formers have also dug many tube wells due to the undependable climate. Sooianwla is big producer of quality rice in the area.

Culture

Sooianwala is a culturally rich village, the people are very generous. The major events of Eids are celebrated with great religious enthusiasm and joy. People do prefer to wear the traditional dress that is Shalwar kameez and dhoti kameez.

Demographics

According to the 1998 census of Pakistan, the Sooianwala had a population of 15,000. [ [http://www.urckarachi.org/Population%20Table-5.htm Urban Resource Centre] ] . The average annual growth rate of the population is 2.71%. As per definition of Board of Revenue Punjab, Place of human habitation having at least ten house are called settlement.

Transport

Sooianwala is one of the most accessible villages in Hafizabad. Recently the starting of bus services form different cities to Sooianwala has facilitated the people. The roads are also good. It can be accessed by motorway through the Kot Sarwar Interchange and also through the Grand Trunk Road. It is only a two hour drive from Lahore to Sooianwala. The transport facility has benefited many people in the village for trading or personal use. The nearest railway station is located in Alipur Chattha which is located about fifteen kilometres from Sooianwala.There is also a railway station Gajurgola which is situated about 10 kilometer east of sooianwala the track from the railway station to the village is full of natural beauty and well farmed fields.Agricultural farms are in abundance means of transport to these seveal farms is either motor bike or horse riding.

Deras

Dera is a place in villages where people gather together and discuss different issues while drinking huqas. Different Chowdrys Have built Deras in the village. Usually there is a mosque attached or near a Dera. There are several deras in the village.But the most busy and big DERA is of CH Sultan Ahmed Chattha.It is known by all other neighbourhood villages.Because he was the biggest and respectfull and biggest Chowdery of his time and all other small Chowderys of other villagers came to him for the solve of their issues

Recreational Activities

People of the village have a limited choice for their recreational activities. Most of the time people go to the Qadirabad barrage where there are different restaurants and other activities. Children usually use the link canal that passes besides the village to swim in the summer. There is also a park in the high school where children play games like football, cricket, etc. Sooianwala is also a great football team and is ranked among the top teams of Punjab.

Sooianwala Football Team Won The All Punjab Football Tournament held in SOOIANWALA and Kashif Ihsan Chatha the captain of the team was one of the major contributor in the win

Mosques

Sooianwala got a number of mosques. There are about six mosques in the village but the most prominent mosque is the Jamia Masid. Recently a madrasa has also been built in it and it is the biggest mosque in the village. It can host up to 400 namazis. It has a very beautiful interior and also a very beautiful and high minar. The imam of the masjid is Syed Aziz ur-Rehman who son of late Syed Ahmad Shah Bukhari.
