- Skhodnya River
Skhodnya River ( _ru. Сходня), also known as Sukhodnya, Vkhodnya, Vykhodnya and Vskhodnya is a
river in the northwest ofMoscow , the second largest tributary (after theYauza River ) of theMoskva River . The length of the Skhodnya is 47km (5 km in Moscow proper). The area of itsbasin is 17,2km² (within the city). The Skhodnya originates near the village of Alabushevo (part ofZelenograd ) and flows into the Moskva River near theTushino Airfield . The Skhodnya River is connected with a derivationalcanal , which supplies water from theVolga River through theKhimki Reservoir (with the help of the Skhodnenskaya hydroelectric plant) to Moscow for sanitaryirrigation .
