Warrigal , Victoria inAustralia . She became a professional nurse and worked inGippsland (150Km from Melbourne) . She eventually migrated to theUnited Kingdom where in 1978 she met and marriedSri Lanka n born British passport holderAnton Balasingham . Mr. Balasingham later became the chief strategist and peace negotiator for the separatistLTTE aTamil militant group fromSri Lanka .Her husbandAnton Balasingham died on December 14 2006. Adele Balasingham moved with her husband initially to
Madras inIndia then on to northern part ofSri Lanka inJaffna during the early stages of theSri Lankan civil war that started after the 1983Black July pogrom. In Sri Lanka she became the women’s wing leader of the LTTE.Peace negotiator
She later participated as part of the LTTE peace negotiating team in numerous peal talks with the various Sri Lankan government negotiating teams since 2002.
