Innfjorden

Innfjorden is a village in the Rauma municipality, in Norway. It is situated a few miles southeast of Åndalsnes in the direction of Ålesund. The road to Åndalsnes goes through a long tunnel (6594 m) opened in 1991 after a series of deaths caused by avalanches on the former road.

The village has about 450 inhabitants. The local business is mainly agriculture, while there is some industry and a few service companies in tourism, transport and road safety. In addition there is an elementary school, kindergarten and a church.

Surrounding Innfjorden are 1200-1800 meter tall peaks on the east, south and west side, and Romsdalsfjorden to the north. It is frequented by mountain hikers, and lately a lot of base jumpers have discovered the mountains in Innfjorden.
