Plot

This movie is based off the fantasy novel written by William J Midget. The scene opens with The Greek and another man fighting in the sea storm. The first scene is the most important scene throughout the entire movie as it foreshadows the impending horror that the later parties face in the sea. The two men end up in a physical assault where The Greek ends up wounding the other man (the actual disputer and possessor of the magical knife).

Though The Greek immediately feels guilty for his actions, the other man takes the opportunity to stab The Greek repeatedly with what seems to be a talisman: a soul transfer/exchanging knife. Immediately, the two men go into an epileptic-like shock simultaneous (an attribute of the knife confirming soul transfer), and the other man (now in The Greek's physical body), who has successfully transferred his soul into The Greek, is found cheering and mutilating the other man (supposedly, in whose physical body now The Greek rests); thus, once more escaping the payments due to The Ferryman.

In the next scene, we arrive on the sunny beach of New Zealand where Big Dave, owner of the luxurious yacht, is playing soccer with a group of children, while the two couples (Chris, a wealthy American by birth, and his fiancée Tate) - (ex-nurse Kathy and her boyfriend Zane) arrive at the harbor as they have paid, Big Dave and his wife Suze, for a luxury trip to Fiji. It is also here we see Tate, the flirtatious, obnoxious, and infertile fiancée (the latter she reveals later to her fiancé), trying her best to flirt with Zane (the boy who "grew up on a boat" all his life), but only in vain.

As the six set sail for Fiji, somewhere half-way, they are interrupted by a weak and disturbing distress signal from a nearby boat, which seems to be emanating from the thick dense black fog that suddenly appears in the horizon. Though Tate argues at first (with the ratio of 5:1), her efforts are shortlived as Big Dave, Suze, and the others unanimously decide that the yacht will be steered right into the fog, and they will ascertain the cause of the distress signal - rescue anyone still alive.

As the Yacht enters the thick fog, a faint glimpse of what appears to be a boat can be seen in the distant with a glowing lamp. Both Big Dave and Zane row on a fishing boat to reach the troubled boat, and upon boarding it, they discover a frail man (the evil soul who transferred himself into The Greek's physical body at the beginning of the film) lying at the corner of a room - his only words, "please help me".

The two (Big Dave and Zane) rescue and bring back The Greek on their yacht, and the entire group encircles The Greek inquiring how his boat got caught up in the storm in the first place, and the whereabouts of the other crew members. The Greek, in order to avoid the daunting questions, returns the group with his clever comebacks, which seems to have made the others find him amusing, but offends Tate. At this point, The Greek seems to have an affection for Kathy, whom he keeps referring to as "Adena", his lost love 1000 years ago.

What follows afterward is a quick roller coaster ride through burning hell, figuratively speaking. While Zane is sitting at the edge of the yacht, he is joined by Tate on the deck, who just had a quick fit of argument with her fiancé Chris over his overt and continuous denial of their deteriorating relationship. Though Tate is able to convince Zane into kissing her while Kathy witnesses silently in the dark background, the scene breaks immediately when The Greek approaches Zane in order to stab him with the magical knife. Zane is stabbed repeatedly, and at this point both Kathy and Tate begin to scream, which alarms the others. Both The Greek and Zane are found lying on the deck, and go into an epileptic-like shock once more, while Kathy is trying her level best to revive Zane. At this point, the others arrive to the scene, including Big Dave's dog, and they witness what has just happened.

While Big Dave manhandles The Greek and throws him overboard, Kathy and Chris try their best to revive Zane (who is gradually recovering at this point). They discover that Zane's stab wounds have miraculously disappeared leaving the others baffled. As the situation cools down, Zane begins to have a different and malicious attitude, as opposed to the humble and down-to-earth Zane prior the stabs from The Greek, towards the others on the deck. Kathy begins to question her boyfriend's new personality, and during a sex scene between her and Zane which ends in rape and domestic violence, she discovers that the tattoo on Zane's shoulder has disappeared since the knife incident.

The others start taking an immediate dislike towards the estranged Zane, and Kathy is advised to sleep with Suze for the night. Meanwhile, The Greek (the real Zane) seems to have survived the ordeal and swims to the boat which originally sent the distressed signal. As soon as he climbs on board the distressed boat and enters a room that has a mirror on the wall, he realizes his entire physical appearance has changed: the result of the knife. It is only then the actual Zane realizes that his soul was transferred, with the help of the knife, into The Greek's physical body, and immediately starts getting worried for Kathy.

On the yacht, the estranged Zane (the evil soul who transferred himself into The Greek's body at the beginning of the film) is found perpetrating a mental scheme to escape the due payments to The Ferryman, and get the yacht away from the latter somehow. The Greek's second victim turns out to be Big Dave's dog in order to seek vengeance from Big Dave and Suze, since the latter refused The Greek's persistence for moving the boat away from the fog.

Notwithstanding, the new Zane embarks on a murderous escapade killing Big Dave and Suze, and then transferring his soul (with the help of the knife) into Chris, and later into Tate. Meanwhile, Kathy, who was in semi-coma from sleeping pill overdose (provided by Tate), wakes up from a recurrent nightmare (a past that caused her to quit her profession as a nurse): the death of a child from her mistreatment.

Kathy discovers a coin in her gripped hand upon waking up, and immediately recalls the nightmare where the dying girl gave her the very coin as a protection against imminent danger. The coin, in essence, is actually the payment that will release The Ferryman's spirit long overdue. Kathy realizes the sudden somnolence on the boat, and walks out of her bed to ascertain the whereabouts of others.

Meanwhile, Zane (who is now in The Greek's body) utilizes his boat knowledge, and steers the disturbed boat near Big Dave's yacht. Upon climbing on Big Dave's yacht, Zane is encountered by Kathy, who does not recognize The Greek (Zane), but something in her heart tells her the person (The Greek / Zane) sounds familiar. Within a few minutes after their encounter, Kathy is able to recognize Zane in his new physical body, and the latter warns Kathy of the evil that has been escaping the payment due to The Ferryman, with the help of the magical knife.

Suddenly, Tate (the new victim in whose body the evil rests), appears from nowhere compelling Kathy to hide, and leaving Zane to encounter Tate. At this point, Zane is oblivious of Tate's possession, and yields to her persuasion that the yacht must be steered out of the fog. After providing Tate the verbal manual to start the engines of the yacht, Zane is burnt alive and thrown overboard.

Kathy, who was hiding all this time, appears and convinces Tate to swallow the coin (that will set The Ferryman free) by encouraging her to a lip-locking session. Consequently, The Ferryman appears to collect his due payments from Tate's tongue (the coin that has been impressed on her tongue by virtue of the kiss from Kathy), and annihilates Tate before disappearing into the darkness.

The final scene is where Kathy is standing in the middle of a rave, looking for a victim (a male counterpart who Zane can transfer his soul into). It is here we discover that even though The Greek (the actual Zane) was burnt alive and thrown overboard by possessed Tate, he is later rescued by Kathy, though his skin completely burnt (3rd degree burns). The film ends with Zane exchanging his soul with the victim Kathy picked off from the rave.
