Beechhurst, Queens

Beechhurst is a neighborhood in the northeasten part of the New York City borough of Queens, and is considered part of Whitestone. Beechhurst is near the East River, north of the Cross Island Parkway and between the approaches to the Throgs Neck Bridge and Whitestone Bridge. This neighborhood is different from Whitestone, more diversity in the population around 150th street and 154th street. Accessed September 3, 2007.] The neighborhood has seen growth in ethnic diversity today. To this day crime is still a problem in the area especially 154th Street.

Beechhurst has a large population of Asian Americans, White Americans, and African Americans as well as a large Hispanics population, mostly immigrants from Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.

The Q15 via 150th Street to Beechhurst provides access to and from the Flushing-Main Street station on the IRT Flushing Line.

Almost 13% of the population lives below the poverty line. It is believed many of the newest residents are from higher poverty sections of Queens and the Bronx.Fact|date=September 2008
