Ellen Langer received her
PhD in Social and Clinical Psychology fromYale University in 1974. In the late 1970s, she attained the noteworthy distinction clear cut of becoming the first woman to be tenured in psychology at Harvard University [http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=950CE2DD153BF930A1575AC0A961958260] .In 1980 she was the recipient of a
Guggenheim Fellowship . Other honors include the Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest of theAmerican Psychological Association , the Distinguished Contributions of Basic Science to Applied Psychology award from theAmerican Association of Applied and Preventive Psychology , the James McKeen Cattel Award, and the Gordon Allport Intergroup Relations Prize. She is the author of 69 research articles and six academic books, including "Mindfulness" and "The Power of Mindful Learning".References
