Alan Murphy (born October 3, 1981 in Mayo) is an Irish footballer currently playing for Galway United in the League of Ireland.

Alan plays in midfield or upfront and joined Galway United from Derry City FC before the 2006 season began. He joined Derry in 2004 [http://www.galwayadvertiser.ie/dws//story.tpl?inc=2004/03/25/news/44303.html] making 59 appearances and scoring 11 goals.

Prior to this, he had his first period at Galway where he was a prolific goal scorer and a fans favourite. Murphy was top goal scorer for three seasons running and is currently Galway United's 2nd all time scorer with 61 goals. In February 2008 he was signed by Shamrock Rovers on a part-time contract [http://www.shamrockrovers.ie/pressrelease.php?subaction=showfull&id=1203413796&archive=&start_from=&ucat=10&] .
