- Ryazan Principality
Ryazan Principality existed from 1078 when it was separated from the
Chernigov Principality. In 1521 the Principality became a part ofMuscovy . The first ruler of Ryazan was supposedlyYaroslav Sviatoslavich , Prince ofChernigov (a city ofKievan Rus' ), later Prince of Murom-Ryzan.In 1097 the Principality became independent (the Great Principality). In December 1237 Ryazan was ravaged by the
Mongols ofBatu Khan and the old capital was destroyed. In 1301 PrinceDaniel of Moscow took Ryazan due theBoyar s' betrayal and confined Prince Konstantin to prison. In 1305 Daniel's son PrinceYury of Moscow was ordered to kill him. The two next successors of Konstantin were killed in theGolden Horde . In 1380 Prince Oleg Ivanovich, though an ally ofMamai , took part in theBattle of Kulikovo .During almost all the its history, Ryazan Principality was in conflict with the
Pronsk Principality until the latter was annexed to Ryazan in 1483 during the regency ofAnna of Ryazan .In 1520 Grand Prince
Vasili III of Russia was captured and imprisoned inMoscow the last Grand Prince of Ryazan because of his relations with the Crimean KhanMehmed I Giray . In 1521 Prince Ivan Ivanovich fled into theGrand Duchy of Lithuania . After that, the Ryazan Principality was merged with the Muscovy.List of Princes of Ryazan
