- Progress Station
Progress ( _ru. Прогресс) is a
Russia n (formerly Soviet) research station inAntarctica . It is located at theLarsemann Hills Oasis on the shore ofPrydz Bay .The station was established by the
33rd Soviet Antarctic Expedition [ru icon [http://www.ivki.ru/kapustin/journal/dubrovin9.htm Kapustin Arctica-Antarctica philatelia] ] onApril 1 1988 and was moved to another place onFebruary 26 1989 [ru icon [http://south.aari.ru/stations/progress/progress_ru.html Progress Station] atAARI website] In2000 , work was temporarily halted but it reopened in2003 .A landing field is located close to the station for air connection with other stations. From
1998 -2001 work was done on the moving of transportation devices to Progress fromMirny Station .Since
2004 , a new year-round facility is being built.References
