The BMW M70 is a V12 piston engine and featured heavily in the 7-Series and 8-Series BMW's of the late 80's and early 1990s. Models included:

6064 cc version developed for the McLaren F1. Complete redesign from M70 and has no common parts, is actually closer to an S50B30 engine from the E36 M3. Engine block is shorter and lighter. Variable intake valve timing BMW VANOS two position adjustable.

6064 cc version, further refinement of the McLaren F1 engine meant for racing. Later destroked to 5990cc in 1997.
