Aah (god)

Aah (also known as Aa, Ah, Aos, Iah, Aah Tehuti, Aah Te-huti) was a moon god from Egyptian mythology, in charge of the Moon Year. Aah's name meant "moon", also "collar", "to embrace", and "defender".

He was known for gambling away five days of moonlight in a dice game to Thoth who put the five days of moonlight into the month of July. This in turn helped Nut and Geb have some children, Seth, Isis, Osiris,Nepthynes, and sometimes Horus. He accompanied mainly Khonsu.

Rarely he was upon the head of a sitting Osiris with whom he was known in texts as Osiris-Aah. He could be seen as Thoth-Aah with a crescent upon a pedestal standing in a boat.

He participated in "The Book of the Dead" and was self quoted in a prayer saying: "I am the moon-god Aah, the dweller among the gods".
