The Discovery Programme

The Discovery Programme

The Discovery Programme is a private archaeological research company funded by the Irish Government through an annual grant from The Heritage Council. Its aim is to investigate Ireland’s past and increase our understanding of areas of archaeology where systematic research has been thus far limited. Since its beginning in 1991 projects have include the Hill of Tara Reid, Western Stone Forts, North Munster and Ballyhoura Hills with two major current projects ongoing, looking at Medieval Rural Settlement and the Lake Settlement of Ireland.
