Lally Bowers was a British actress, born on
January 21 ,1917 inOldham ,Lancashire ,England . Bowers was educated atHulme Grammar School inOldham and worked as a secretary before walking-on and understudying at theShakespeare Memorial Theatre inStratford-upon-Avon . As a professional actress, she appeared in hundreds of stage productions, films and television programmes and rep atManchester ,Sheffield ,Southport ,Guilford ,Liverpool ,Birmingham and theBristol Old Vic . HerLondon debut came in 1944 and her many West End successes included "Dinner With the Family" for which she won a Clarence Derwent award in 1957, "Difference of Opinion", "The Killing of Sister George ", "Dear Octopus" and "The Beastly Beatitudes of Balthazar B". She is perhaps best remembered for her role as the mother of the Prince (Richard Chamberlain ) in "The Slipper and the Rose ". Bowers died onJuly 18 ,1984 inLondon, England .External links
