"Baby Don't Cry" is Namie Amuro's 31st solo single under the avex trax label. It was released as CD and CD&DVD January 24, 2007, eight months after her last single "Can't Sleep, Can't Eat, I'm Sick / 人魚".

Overview

The titular track is a midtempo pop song produced by recent collaborator, Nao'ymt. The b-side track, "Nobody", was originally supposed to be included on the "White Light / Violet Sauce" single, but was taken off before the single's release. "Nobody" is described as a direct sequel to "White Light", and shares an almost identical composition with "White Light". The melody is altered in the verses but is identical in the prechorus and the chorus.

Upon release, the single became her best selling single for its first week on the Oricon Charts since "Say the word" in 2001. After two weeks, it had already outsold her last single of 2005, "White Light / Violet Sauce", and her last single, "Can't Sleep, Can't Eat, I'm Sick / Ningyo". It sold 108,562 copies after four weeks on the charts and outsold "Want Me, Want Me" and "Girl Talk / The Speed Star". "Baby Don't Cry" eventually sold 144,081 copies during its fourteen week chart run, making this her best selling single since "Say the word".

Commercial endorsements

"Baby Don't Cry" is being used as the theme song to the drama Himitsu no Hanazono. It is also being used for JoySound CMs.

Music Video

The "Baby Don't Cry" PV premiered on January 10, 2007. It features her walking in several uncrowded places in Japan including streets, and parks.
