André Savignon (
1 January 1878 -January 10 ,1947 ) was a Frenchauthor .He was born in
Tarbes (Hautes-Pyrénées , France) onJanuary 1 ,1878 . His parents were (Eugène) Michel Savignon and (Louise) Isabelle Varanguien de Villepin.He married Marie-Josèphe Monzelun on
July 29 ,1902 inParis . Between 1908 and 1914 he made numerous trips toEngland , particularly toPlymouth . AfterWorld War I he moved toSt Malo (Ille et Vilaine, France). OnSeptember 27 ,1919 , he married Berthe Desgranges atAmbérac (Charentes , France).He left no descendants from either of his marriages.Career
A writer, he won the
Prix Goncourt in 1912 with his novel "Les filles de la pluie", describing the daily life inOuessant Island . His other books include:

London whenWorld War II broke out in 1939, was inPlymouth during the Blitz [cite book | title=Plymouth. A New History| last=Gill| first=Crispin| date=1993| pages=261| publisher=Devon Books| isbn=0-86114-882-7] and then remained in London until his death at the age of 69, at The French Hospital, frompneumonia on January 10, 1947. He is buried in the Rosais cemetery on banks of the La Rance river inSt Servan sur Mer (Ille et Vilaine, France).References
