There is an infrequently-used old turntable in the eastern stabling yard, retained for use of steam train excursions and diesel locomotive tuition as well as turning of track recording machines.
The current station layout has a western stabling yard, built in 1995 with three electrified roads, two capable of stowing four three-car electric units with the third electrified road holding only two three-car electric units. The non-electrified Wamuran road was realigned against the station fence and is used to stow diesel locomotives and track machines.
The Eastern Stabling Yard has four electrified roads two each holding two three-car electric multiple units and two holding three three-car electric units. The eastern most road leads onto the turntable. The eastern yard was track circuited and electrified in 1995 at the same time the western yard was constructed. There is an electrified shunting straight on the southern end of platform three to enable shunting from the eastern yard.
Kilcoy branch line
The Kilcoy branch line opened in the late 19th century between Caboolture and Kilcoy. The stations along the line were Moodlu, Wamuran, Bracalba, D'Aguilar, Woodford, Neurum, Royston, Villenueve, and Kilcoy.
The line was closed in July 1964 back to Wamuran, with the track lifted the year after except for approximately half a kilometer from Wamuran station for shunting. Until the late 1990s, the two main commodities sourced were pineapples for the Golden Circle cannery, and ballast from the Moodlu Ballast pit. The Wamuran line has been disused since the 1990s. In January 2008, the Beerburrum Road level crossing at Caboolture was totally removed as part of the Beerburrum Road widening. Although the railway line on the approach to Moodlu was partially covered during the construction of the King Street and D'Aguilar Highway interchange, provision was made for a rail underpass.
World War II
During
World War II , Caboolture was a staging post for the2/25th Australian Infantry Battalion troops from the surrounding districts who traveled to Owen Stanley - Kakoda Trail campaign to Gona in Papua New Guinea. There are a number of plaques of dedication on Caboolture Station's walls, commemorating their services to the country. There is also evidence in the Wamuran Public Hall that troops also answered the call to service at Caboolture duringWorld War I .ervices by platform
