July 4 ,1958 inTrois-Rivières, Quebec , was a quarterback in theCanadian Football League and Olympic handball player.He competed in the
1976 Summer Olympics with the Canadian handball team, which finished eleventh in the Olympic tournament. He played three matches.Tousignant attended
Fairmont State University from 1978 to 1981, and played in theWest Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference . He was WVIAC Offensive Player of the Year in 1981.He was drafted in 1982 by the
NFL 'sBuffalo Bills in the 8th round, 218th overall.Tousignant's only professional season was 1982 with the
Montreal Concordes (which was part of theMontreal Alouettes franchise history.) He played in all of their 16 games, starting 5 of them. He completed only 75 of his 174 passes, for 989 yards, and 11 interceptions. He rushed for 200 yards. The Concordes had a dreadful 2 win and 14 loss season.His primary claim to fame is that not only was he a Canadian starting at quarterback for a CFL team, which is rare, but he is the only
French Canadian ever to start at quarterback, and he did so playing for the only CFL team based inQuebec .External links
