James Thomson (born 18 February 1988) is an AFL footballer who plays for the West Australian club Claremont Tigers. He stands at 194cm and weighs 83kg.

His father is the well known Nine Network Perth sport presenter Michael Thomson. His brother Dave is a well known West Australian fishing identity. Furthermore, James is currently studying at Notre Dame University.

Career

West Coast Eagles

Thomson was recruited with the Eagles fifth and final pick in the 2006 AFL Draft. He was selected as pick 80 overall. Thomson wears the number 33 guernsey for the Eagles, made famous by the dynamic pocket forward Phil Matera.

Thomson was recruited from the local WAFL club Claremont. Although he has not made an official debut, he did play in the 2008 NAB Cup, at Subiaco Oval, against Fremantle. In this game, he proved very promising, with Eagles coach John Worsfold stating after the game that James did very well.
