Bar None (nightclub)

Bar None is a chain of bar/nightclubs located throughout the United States. The original location, Bar None NYC, a dive bar located in New York City, still exists. It has been a popular meeting place for East Village locals and New York University students since 1993. The bar is located at 98 Third Avenue, between East 12th and East 13th Street. The building's previous tenant was The Space at Chase, a live music venue where bands such as Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers played in the early 1990s.

Controversial Punk rock artist GG Allin gave perhaps his most violent performance at The Space at Chase on December 7, 1991. A riot ensued during the show after Allin defecated on the floor, mutilated himself, shed blood, threw feces and blood into the crowd, and began attacking audience members, severely injuring a female fan. Most of that infamous show appears in the documentary film, "Hated". Allin died two years later of a heroin overdose.

In the late 1970's the space was home to "The Nursery," a notorious after-hours bar, whose regulars included celebrities such as John Belushi, David Bowie , and Mick Jagger as well as porn stars, drug dealers, bikers and other colorful characters from the New York nightlife scene.

Bar None NYC is the flagship location for the Bar None chain of bars throughout the U.S. It is located at 98 Third Avenue in New York City."'The origin of Bar None came out of The Nursery . The well known After Hours joint 1978-1984. There we're other funky after hours clubs in NYC back in those days . But bar none ( no pun intended) like the Nursery. The Nusery had it all From Celeb's to Dregs. Punk Rokers, Heavy Metal, Hard Rockers, B&T crowd, Artist's, Musicians, Students. It attracted a wide variety of personalities, only part of the reason it was so much fun. It would seem on some nights the club would never close. For instance as long as the DJ played slammin tracks . Which he always did. people hung at the bar and partied forever into obllivian, or the next day. Whichever came first. We're talkin 1 - 2 - 3PM the next afternoon. This was only part of the mystique and what made it a very compelling place to hang back in those days!!!!
