As a youth, he played at Maccabi Tel Aviv and from an early age was scouted as being a future talent. By age seventeen, he was leading the national U-21 side to Asian championships and by eighteen, he had been called up to the full side. By
1973 , he had a spat with Maccabi manager,Jerry Beit haLevi over transferring to a club inFrance . He later left Maccabi forFrance and didn't come back until1979 when he rejoined Maccabi and helped them win the league.Managerial career
