René Thomas is a Belgian scientist, and professor at the Center for Nonlinear Phenomena and Complex Systems of the
Universite Libre de Bruxelles . In1975 , he was awarded theFrancqui Prize on Biological and Medical Sciences for his work onmolecular biology .The discrete model of biological regulatory networks presented by Thomas A. Richard, J.-P. Comet, G. Bernot, R. Thomas' Modeling of Biological Regulatory Networks: Introduction of Singular States in the Qualitative Dynamics, Fundamenta Informaticae, 65: 373-392.] has been receiving increasing attention as an alternative to traditional ODE (continuous) modeling of the regulatory networks.
