- Andrea Locatelli
Andrea Locatelli (1695-1741) was an Italian painter of landscapes (
vedute ).Born in Rome, he was the son and pupil of the painter
Piero Locatelli , who had studied with the FlorentineCiro Ferri . He next apprenticed underPaolo Anesi , although his style and thematic is akin to that ofClaude Lorrain , and depicts small mythologic figures although within a wild environment more similar to those ofSalvator Rosa . He is also known as Andrea Lucatelli. Andrea excelled in paintingvedute in a style reminiscent ofJan Frans van Bloemen , one of theBamboccianti . One of his pupils wasJoseph Vernet .References
