Henry Huntly Haight (May 20, 1825ndash September 2, 1878) was Governor of California from December 5, 1867 to December 8, 1871. Born in Rochester, New York, he graduated from Yale University. He is credited with creating the University of California. He died in 1878 and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, California.

He was the first governor to use the offices in the California State Capitol.

Though commonly thought to be true, San Francisco's Haight Street may or may not be named in his honor as it is thought by some that the street may indeed be named after that of his uncle, the pioneer and exchange banker Henry Haight (1820-1869).
