Lighthouses of Western Australia
Due to the length (10,000 km +)and dangerous nature of the coast of Western Australia the development of lighthouses in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century was considered critical in the development of safer shipping around the coast.
Well before European settlement in the region there had been extensive wrecks of Dutch ships on their journey to Batavia.
