Justice Irshad Hasan Khan (Urdu: ارشاد حسن خان ) was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan from 26 January 2000 to 06 January 2002. He was appointed reluctantly by Gen. Musharraf to this position as he had corruption charges as well, when the previous chief justice,
Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui, refused to take a new oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order PCO which was in contradiction to the Oath under the Constitution of 1973; after the 1999 military coup by General Pervez Musharraf. It was under Chief Justice Irshad Hasan Khan’s tenure that Musharraf’s military rule was legitimized. After his retirement from the supreme court on January 6, 2002, he was appointed on a lower scale job that he previously held, that of the Chief Election Commissioner, a position he held till his retirement January 15, 2004.
