Laserscope

Laserscope

The Konami LaserScope is a head-mounted lightgun with a microphone and a crosshair that covered one eye. It was an officially licensed product for the NES/Famicom video game console. Konami originally released the peripheral in 1990, in Japan for the Famicom under the name Gun Sight. The Laser Scope retailed for $39.99(USD) and was manufactured specifically for one Konami game, "Laser Invasion", which included a $5(USD) coupon for the LaserScope. The device met very limited commercial success.

With the device firmly affixed to the players head, they had merely to shout "fire!" into the microphone to fire a shot at the on-screen object aimed at via the headset's crosshair. However, microphone technology was poor; Christoffer Tuner found in a review that saying almost anything else would also cause the controller to react. James Rolfe /The Angry Video Game Nerd also discovered this in his review. The Laserscope had built-in headphones that a person would connect to the NES audio port for the video game sounds.
