Augustus Glossop Harris (
5 June ,1825 -19 April ,1873 ) was an English actor and theatre manager.He was the son of Joseph Glossop, first manager of the
Royal Coburg Theatre , and an opera singer named Mme Féron.He became a leading manager of opera and ballet, notably at
Covent Garden , London, but also inParis ,Berlin andSt. Petersburg .He wrote the libretto, with
Edmund Falconer , for the opera "The Rose of Castile"; with music byMichael William Balfe , it was produced on Broadway in 1867.He died in 1873 and is buried in
