Plot

A German scientist helps a Soviet general construct two nuclear bombs, one of which is being transported across Europe by a mercenary on a train. Malcolm Philpott (Stewart), a member of UNACO, (United Nation Anti Crime Organisation), is tasked to stop the bomb using a team of agents, one of whom is Special Forces soldier Michael 'Mike' Graham (Brosnan).

Plutonium was stolen in order to make the bombs, and the only person who knows the combination to disarm them has been subjected to a vast amount of radiation and is slowly dying.

Memorable quotes

Dr. Karl Leitzig: Who ever is hearing this. I give you the rest of your life.

Malcolm Philpott: Let's not let failure go to our heads.

DVD release and sequel

The UK DVD release (by Prism Leisure) of Death Train has all of the subtitles missing, many of the scenes that are spoken in russian are meant to be hard subbed (they are hard subbed when shown on TV and on the VHS version) but this has been left off and a DVD subtitle track has not been put on the region 2 DVD.

Many of the cast returned in the sequel Detonator II (Night Watch), Night Watch is available on Region 1 DVD bundled as a double pack with Death Train / Detonator, the DVD's ASIN is B000HXDWFK.
