Rodney Colin Williams (born April 25, 1977 in Decatur, Georgia) is a former American football punter in the NFL who played for the New York Giants. He wore the number 2.

College career

He was Georgia Tech's super star punter back in his college days, and later went on to play in the National Football League. He is the holder of 3 NFL records, the most notable being a 90-yard punt on Monday Night Football, September 10, 2001.

NFL career

He was a journeyman in the NFL, trying out for many teams over several years but only landing a job once, in 2001 with the New York Giants, where he was the only starting African-American punter in the NFL that year. Thanks to his 90-yard punt that same season, Williams was also one of the more well known black punters in NFL history, included with the likes of Reggie Roby (also African American and a three time pro bowler) and Greg Coleman, a punter for the Minnesota Vikings in the 1970s and 1980s. He is now out of the league after not signing with a team since 2004. He does appear as a free agent punter in the videogames Madden NFL 2005, Madden NFL 06, Madden NFL 07, Madden NFL 08 , and Madden NFL 09. You have to download the first update on Madden NFL 2009 if you want to sign him off of Free Agency.

Trivia

* Williams is cousins with current WWE superstar Gregory Helms.
