Suspension polymerization

Suspension polymerization

Suspension polymerization (also known as pearl polymerization, bead polymerization and granular polymerization) is a polymerization process that uses mechanical agitation to mixthe monomer or mixture of monomers in a liquid phase such as water, polymerizing the monomer droplets while they are dispersed by continuous agitation. This process is used in the production of Sodium polyacrylate, a superabsorbent polymer used in disposable nappies (diapers).
