Andreas Zapatinas

Andreas Zapatinas is a Greek automobile designer, born in Athens in 1957. He has worked with Fiat,1988 until 1994 (chief designer of the Fiat Barchetta)and chief designer of exteriors.He contributed to the design of Fiat Bravo-a,Fiat Coupe and other models.In 1994 he moved to BMW where he contributed to the exterior design.In 1998 he became chief designer at Alfa Romeo Centro Stile,near Milan.(designer, in part, of Alfa Romeo 145,credited for the unique for its time rear end design and Alfa Romeo 147). In 2002 he joined Subaru as Head of Advanced Design. At Subaru, he is often wrongly credited with the controversial propeller nose design first introduced on the Subaru B9 Tribeca (this concept was proposed before Zapatinas joined the Japanese company). This design created some controversy, and it was reported that it will not appear on any future vehicles. This controversy may have been related with Zapatinas's resignation from Subaru in July 2006.
