Hindustani language refers toEnglish people , and in general, to all foreigners, specifically the whites. However in the movie, it is a term used by the comical gang of residents from theCharminar locality in Hyderabad to refer to theNRIs they encounter at anIrani hotel . "The Angrez" is the first movie in Hyderabadi dialectFact|date=January 2007. The movie was a trend-setter in that, it was one of the first to effectively and humorously, often resorting to theslapstick kind, portray the dialect of theOld City and theTelangana tongue.Plot
The movie takes a dig on Hyderabadis and revolves around three sets of people.
# The Angrez - Two guys who come back from US to serve the top management of a tech solutions call-centre.
# Ismail bhai & gang - The real funny bunch of Muslim guys from Old city i.e Charminar area, the ones who just live in their own pride of silly things.
# Anna & gang - These are the Telangana Hyderabadi Hindus and are portrayed as brawny but not brainy.The movie was released initially only in four theaters in Hyderabad, but later on it was released in many theaters in Hyderabad and CDs/DVDs were released only after it completed 25 weeks.

Impact On The Movie Industry
Though the movie failed to attract the mainstream film industry, it was a very specific in its style to do, the movie started off the infectious trend of making comedy movies based on the
Hyderabadi culture.In a matter of a year and a half, there were about a half a dozen releases, likeKal ka Nawab ,Hyderabad Nawaabs ,Aadab Hyderabad ,Hungama In Dubai among others. But none of them quite succeeded in creating the effect and the charm of the original, though these movies were popular among theOld City residents. The success of The Angrez can be attributed to the spontainiety of the humour whereas in the movies that followed, the humour looks forced.
