- IROC VI
The sixth year of
IROC competition took place in1978 and1979 . The format changed fromIROC V in that three qualifying races were held for participants fromNASCAR , USACChamp Car , and Road Racing (which primarily consisted ofFormula 1 ,SCCA, and IMSA). The top four finishers in these qualifying races then earned the chance to race in the two final races atRiverside International Raceway andAtlanta Motor Speedway .
