Lonn Friend

Lonn Friend (b. August 1956) is a journalist who is most famous for being Editor of "RIP Magazine" in the late 1980s and 1990s.

Credited with helping break bands like Guns N' Roses and Skid Row, Lonn has traveled the globe on the heels of the biggest and best in the rock industry. During his time with "RIP", Lonn is directly responsible for helping usher in the 'grunge' movement, a time when bands like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Nirvana took over the airwaves from previous musical giants Mötley Crüe, Poison, etc. He also had a long-running segment on MTV's Headbanger's Ball entitled "Friend at Large."

Prior to "RIP", Lonn was employed by "Hustler", another Larry Flynt publication. It was during this time that Lonn had the idea to start a metal magazine dedicated to the cutting edge of metal.

Post "RIP" found Lonn on the radio and tv, where he delivered his special brand of rock n' roll opinions to his loyal masses.

Lonn has recently published a book titled "Life on Planet Rock".
