Brian Caswell was born in a village called Gwernaffield in
Wales ,on the 13th of January, 1954. His family moved to England, when he was 5 years old. At the age of 12, in 1966, Caswell's family moved toAustralia . He received aBachelor of Arts and aDiploma of Education , and graduated fromSydney University . In the 1970's, Caswell took up singing and songwriting, and was successful for a short period, one of his songs making thetop 40 music charts; [ [http://www.bookedout.com.au/authors/Brian_Caswell/print.html Caswell's music career] ] before becoming a school teacher.Caswell taught at several high schools, mainly as a
history , english andcreative writing . For 15 years he worked as a teacher, before he wrote his first book, Merryll of the Stone, in 1989.
