"Public Account" was a weekly politically-themed radio program started in 1976 and transmitted by BBC only in Scotland. It ran on weeknights from 10:45 to 11:25 PM, local time. [cite web|url=http://www.tvradiobits.co.uk/tellyyears/may1977.htm |title=TV & Radio Bits - Telly Years - May 1977 |accessdate=2007-12-08] It was designed to reflect the increased interest in politics in Scotland leading up to the first Devolution Referendum held by the Callaghan government. Ground-breaking in its approach to politics, it was presented by Donald MacCormick, James Cox, and Andrew Neil. Tom Ross was the producer and Matthew Spicer was the editor.Fact|date=December 2007
