Jean-Marie Atangana Mebara (born March 27 1954) is a Cameroonian politician. He was a member of the National Committee for the coordination of President Paul Biya's re-election campaign in the 2004 presidential election. After being placed under house arrest, Mebara was arrested on August 1 2008 in connection with a scandal regarding the 2003 purchase (made while Mebara was serving as Secretary-General of the Presidency) of an 18-year-old faulty aircraft (a Boeing 767-200) for Biya. He was accused of embezzlement of public funds.
