- Jora'h
Jorah is a fictional character from the '
Saga of Seven Suns ' series of novels by Kevin J. Anderson.Biography
Jora'h was the eldest son of the Mage-Imperator Cyroc'h and was therefore made Prime Designate. He is described as "handsome, smooth featured, with golden hair bound back into a braid."
Jora'h met with the human Reynald during the Theron heirs travels to other cultures and liked the man. Jora'h invited Reynald to send two green priests to Ildira to study the Saga of Seven Suns and fell in love with one of the green priests - Nira Khali - despite his position of having to bear many sons by many mates. In his courtship of Nira Khali Jora'h took the human to events such as Ildiran jousting as well as purchasing much of the Theron merchandise Rlinda Kett had brought from Theroc.
The Prime Designate was sent by the Mage-Imperator Cyroc'h to Theroc to get him out of the way so he could kidnap Nira Khali, who on Jora'h return was said to have perished in a fire despite her continued life on Dobro where she gave birth to Jora'h's child.
Jora'h was mortified by the loss of Nira and incredibly incensed when he discovered that he was lied to and Nira was in fact alive. To prevent Jora'h from going after Nira the Mage-Imperator Cyroc'h grounded all flights off Ildira and then took extreme measures by poisoning himself so Jora'h was forced to stay on Ildira and rise to the position of Mage-Imperator for the good of all Ildirans. This Cyroc'h did so that the long-term plans laid down by the Mage-Imperator Yusa'h would be revealed to Jora'h and so the new Mage-Imperator would realise the necessity of the breeding programme.
After ascending to the throne, Jora'h did decide to maintain the breeding camps but still was determined to free Nira. This proposition was quashed by Udru'h, the designate of Dobro and Jora'h's brother, who claimed that Nira had died accidentally in the breeding camps, though Jora'h did travel to Dobro later to visit the grave of his love Nira and to meet with their daughter Osira'h. Despite his continuation of the Dobro experiments Jora'h did break with other traditions held by his father Cyroc'h such as letting his feet touch the floor and assigning his daughter Yazra'h as his personal bodyguard.
These breaks in tradition were taken by Jora'h brother Rusa'h to mean that the Mage-Imperator was corrupted like his father and Rusa'h set himself up as an Imperator to rival Jora'h. Feeling the death of his son on the planet of Hyrillka and surviving an assassination attempt, Jora'h dispatched the Ildiran solar navy and commanded Rusa'h's arrest. Jora'h also denounced his eldest born noble son Thor'h after learning he had voluntarily joined Rusa'h's rebellion and announced that his mixed kith eldest son Zan'nh was the new Prime Designate.
Jora'h was present on Ildira to meet with the King and Queen of the Terran Hanseatic League who presented him with a worldforest treeling that he kept at his side as a reminder of Nira Khali and a short time later said farewell to his and Nira's daughter Osira'h as she was sent to Qronha to meet with the hydrogues.
After the capture of nearly a maniple of Ildiran warliners by Rusa'h and the false Imperator's sending of an envoy to Dobro, Jora'h travelled to Hyrillka with many more Ildiran warships and wrenched back many soul threads from Rusa'h's grasp although he was not able to do so with his own son Thor'h.
The hydrogues journeyed with Osira'h to meet with Jora'h at the Prism Palace on Ildira and agreed to make peace with the Ildiran Empire on the condition that they help the hydrogues wipe out all humans.
Jora'h sent two full cohorts of warliners to earth as the hydrogues ordered, but they were not manned by Ildirans, they were controlled by remote devices designed by Tabitha Huck and Sullivan Gold. Under the supervision of Adar Zan'nh, the remote ships appeared as if they were to betray the humans, but then swiftly and decisively turned on the Hydrogues, with nearly 700 of them crashing into Hydrogue warglobes in suicidal attacks which greatly crippled they Hydrogue fleet leaving it weak to be finished off by the roamers and the Verdani tree-ships
Having learnt of Jora'h's betrayal, the hydrogue spheres overlooking Mijistra immediately threatened Jora'h but were halted by the cunning Osira'h, who used her telepathic powers to deceive the Hydrogues and destroy them from the inside, with the assistance of her mother Nira and Jora'h.
As the Hydrogue ships crashed down on Mijistra, Jora'h felt the death of his people through the "thism" and ordered a full scale operation to rebuild the capital of Ildira and reconstruct the many warliners that were destroyed at Earth.
After forming an alliance with King Peter and the confederation, Jora'h was kidnapped by Basil and forced into solitary confinement in space aboard his ship. It was only through connecting to his kids that he was able to fight off insanity.
