The Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden is located on the Stuart Highway, 1.4 kilometres north of the Eyre Highway in Port Augusta. The garden was established in the 1980's [http://www.anbg.gov.au/chabg/bg-dir/007.html] , [http://www.australian-aridlands-botanic-garden.org/general/history.htm] and opened in September 1996 [http://www.australian-aridlands-botanic-garden.org/general/history.htm] . The Garden is an initiative of the City of Port Augusta and corporate funding, and very limited State Government support [http://www.australian-aridlands-botanic-garden.org/general/history.htm] .
The Garden has an interpretive centre and cafe. It features Australian and overseas plants from arid environments within its 250 hectares [http://www.anbg.gov.au/chabg/bg-dir/007.html] .
