Popp's career highlights were making the quarter-finals of the Wimbledon championships in 2000 (defeating 4th seed and eventual year-end No.1
Gustavo Kuerten in straight sets en route), and in 2003 (where he had a two-set lead against eventual runner-upMark Philippoussis but eventually lost 8–6 in the final set). He also reached the fourth round the following year, but was beaten in straight sets by eventual runner-up Andy Roddick.
