Essen Süd is a railway station in the city of Essen in western Germany, serving the southern city borough "Südviertel".
The station today sees regular service by Rhein-Ruhr S-Bahn trains on the S6 line. The station has been remodeled and therefore a length of platform has been removed from the southbound platform, but the stairs and S-Bahn signet pointing passengers toward the Düsseldorf-bound platform have been left in place on the far southern end of the passenger walkway and are now literally standing in the middle of nothing.
