John Bridgeman (bishop)

John Bridgeman (2 November 1577 – 11 November 1652) was an English clergy.

The son of Thomas Bridgeman, and grandson of Edward Bridgeman was rector in Wigan, Lancashire in 1615. He was a Doctor of Divinity and Bishop of Chester from 1619 to 1652. On 29 April 1606, Bridgeman has married Elizabeth Helyar, daughter of Reverend William Helyar. They had three children:

*Sir James Bridgeman, married Anne Allen
*Richard Bridgeman, married Katherine Watson
*Sir Orlando Bridgeman, 1st Baronet (1608 or 1609–1674)
