Mufazzal Haider Chaudhury

Mufazzal Haider Chaudhury (Bengali: মোফাজ্জল হায়দার চৌধুরী) (22 July 1926 - 14 December 1971) was a prominent Bengali essayist, prized scholar of Bengali literature, educator and linguist of the Bengali language. He was one of the leading Bengali intellectuals who were killed in cold blood by collaborators of Pakistan Army on December 14, two days before the end of the Bangladesh Liberation War.

The Day of Disappearance

On December 14, which is observed as Martyred Intellectuals Day, a group of Al-Badr people took away the eminent intellectual from his house. Dolly Chaudhury, wife of Mufazzal Haider Chaudhury, recognized one among the Al-Badr people when the cover hiding his face was pulled down by her husband. The person was Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin.[1]
