"ABC Barn Dance" was the first country and western show on American television. It was an early
television program spun off from the popular radio program "National Barn Dance ". The show ran on the ABC-TV network on Monday nights from February 21, 1949 until November 14 of that same year. Originally broadcast from 8:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., it was moved to 9:00 p.m. and then to 9:30 p.m.Originating from
Chicago, Illinois , the weekly live prime time variety show presented several of the radio show's fan favorites, includingthe Sage Riders ,Lulu Belle and Scotty ,Cousin Tifford ,the DeZurik Sisters andHolly Swanson . It was hosted byHal O'Halloran andJack Stillwell .References
