ABC Barn Dance

ABC Barn Dance

"ABC Barn Dance" was the first country and western show on American television. It was an early television program spun off from the popular radio program "National Barn Dance". The show ran on the ABC-TV network on Monday nights from February 21, 1949 until November 14 of that same year. Originally broadcast from 8:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., it was moved to 9:00 p.m. and then to 9:30 p.m.

Originating from Chicago, Illinois, the weekly live prime time variety show presented several of the radio show's fan favorites, including the Sage Riders, Lulu Belle and Scotty, Cousin Tifford, the DeZurik Sisters and Holly Swanson. It was hosted by Hal O'Halloran and Jack Stillwell.
